Tanana Valley Fair 2009

Tanana Valley Fair dates Tradition is Our Mission
for 2009 are August 7-15.

Theme: "Tradition is our Mission"

Tanana Valley Fair FerriswheelThe Tanana Valley Fair grounds are located at College Road and Aurora Drive. Parking is free, but get there early for a spot (most of the buildings open at noon). Alaska's oldest fair features giant cabbages, competitive exhibits, a kids' rocket launch, talent search, baby show, freight dog pull, candy shoot, backhoe rodeo, dancing with Fairbanks stars, demonstrations, arts & crafts, carnival rides, contests, fireworks and other entertainment. There is a senior luncheon/old timers lunch August 12, noon to 2 p.m. The 4H and FFA Market Livestock Project Auction is August 14, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the show ring and Delta barn. We are not sure yet what day "Kid's Day" will be this year.

The Exhibitor Guide (a how-to guide for exhibiting) will be available online only this year, HERE.  Season tickets usually go on sale in July. In 2001 there was quite a bit of controversy as they dropped the Family Season Pass, a particular hardship for children who entered animals they had to feed and clean twice daily. Their web site, however, gets better every year.
