Fashional (10/5/02) Sponsored by Quota International Fairbanks.
"You Oughta be in Pictures." Will be held at the Westmark
Fairbanks Hotel Gold Room, 7 p.m. (cocktails - champagne & hors
d'oeuvres), choreographed Fashion Show at 8 p.m.,
dance till 1 a.m. to live music. This is an annual fundraiser for Quota International Fairbanks, whose special interest is disadvantaged women
& children, and those with speech & hearing impairments. In 2001, this clever
& witty show was written and directed by Fairbanks' own Jason
Hodges, creator of "Athena". Come support a great
community service organization while enjoying champagne, hors
d'oeuvres, and great fashions, then dance the night away with the
great live dance band "Nostalgic Jam". Call 490-2325
for tickets; $75 per person or $650 for a table of 10. This is a
fundraiser this year to benefit the Breast Cancer Detection Center.

By advance reservation only, tickets are $100 per seat. Saturday night the
doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner is at 6:30, and the auction begins at 7

for catholic Schools of Fairbanks, with more than 2,500 donated items.

An evening venue of distinction for published writers, Reading
From Alaska's Heart brings together several talents from Alaska
to read from their works and fellowship with community members. This
annual event serves as Adult Learning Programs of Alaska's major

Far North Conservation Film
Festival: (11/3-4/07) This two-day festival has times and
location to be determined. The Far North Conservation Film Festival (www.farnorthfilms.com)
presents a diverse group of outstanding films about the conservation
and sustainability of wildlife, wild places and cultures around the
world.
University
Women's Association Annual Christmas Bazaar (11/5, 6/06) Large
popular bazaar featuring crafters from around Alaska for savvy Christmas
shoppers. Features food court, free
admission and different crafters each day. Parking available at Farmers Loop
lot with shuttle bus service to campus. Proceeds to benefit college
scholarships, UAF Wood Center, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The rest of this info is

Athabascan Fiddlers' Festival
(11/6-9/02). Traditional Athabascan Indian fiddling and dancing. Dedicated
to the tradition of Athabascan fiddling and dancing. Dancing,
guitar-playing, fiddling and performances by village representatives.
Athabascan Fiddlers Association. "The Athabascan Fiddlers Festival has grown
tremendously over the past 20 years to become one of the three major
cultural events of the year," according to festival founder, Jean Flanagan

Downtown Association of Fairbanks/Main
Street (2001?) is working hard to make a winter wonderland
into a glittering reality with fun-packed activities, bringing the
family together during Winter Solstice activities scheduled for each
Saturday in the month of December.
Downtown Holiday activities include:

They have something special planned this year for the Cushman
Street Bridge. Holiday lighting has been expanded to include new
displays on the bridge, the riverfront, and all the way down Cushman
Street as well as additional areas and decorations in the downtown
area. They plan on lighting up Fairbanks as never have before. In addition, there will be a family-oriented series of activities
on the ground floor of the Sadler's building; Santa's Clearing House
will be receiving food, clothing and gift items; rumors are that
Santa will be there himself on certain days too! With music, storytelling, sleigh rides and other holiday events,
they have planned activities which focus on bringing family and
community together.
Candle Lighting
Service (12/04/05) Always the first Sunday in December. Celebrate the Christmas season in North Pole, Alaska.
2 p.m. at North Pole High School. Tree lighting same day at Santa's RV Park
next to Santa Claus House,
5 p.m. (907) 488-2242. For over thirty years, North Pole has been holding
this Candelighting Ceremony to begin the Christmas season. This is an
important Chamber function. The Program focus is on local children,
and others who have made great contributions to the North Pole community.
Each year an excellent show of talent and inspiration is planned. After the
candelighting ceremony is finished there will be time for a little
refreshment and mingling.
North Pole Winter
Festival (12/2, 3/06) Food, information and vendor booths
with activities, demonstrations and entertainment for everyone. Annual
I-Did-A-Block Businessman's Dog Race. Dog sled rides, Kitty Cat snowmachine
races, traditional Turkey Bowling and Frozen Salmon Slalom grudge matches,
